Every odds number you see is two things glued together: the bookmaker’s estimate of probability, and their fee. Learning to separate them is the single most useful skill in betting.
Decimal odds in ten seconds
Odds of 2.00 mean a successful €10 bet returns €20. Convert to implied probability by dividing 1 by the odds: 1 ÷ 2.00 = 50%. Do this for both sides of a CS2 match and the percentages will sum to more than 100% — that excess is the margin, the book’s built-in fee.
Why margins matter more than bonuses
A book offering 5% margins takes roughly €5 of every €100 matched. One running 8% takes €8. Over a season of betting, that difference dwarfs any welcome bonus — which is why our reviews lead with measured margins, not promo sizes.
Value betting means finding spots where your probability estimate beats the implied one — easier in esports than mature sports because traders have thinner data on roster changes, patches and map pools. Easier, not easy.
